Ear-Wave

A musth male swings the upper portion of the ear stiffly and vigorously forward to a position in front of perpendicular to the neck. The speed and forcefulness of the swing causes the lower, unsupported portion of the pinnae to go even further forward and flapping upward. The motion creates a wave appearance across the ear. (95) May serve to waft scent of Musth Temporal Gland Secretion toward other elephants.
